Odin (Oscar, Masya=Little one) was born on March 12, 2023. His origin is unknown. The little wolf cub was sold over the Internet and spent two years in a small apartment in the middle of Kyiv.

During the rescue, we were able to conduct a veterinary examination and X-ray diagnostics. As a result of artificial feeding, lack of natural lighting and atypical nutrition for wolves, Odin developed rickets. Under the weight of his own body, his paw broke and, as a result, a metal plate was installed. He is underdeveloped for his age and has cryptorchidism. Due to destroyed socialization, physical weakness and, apparently, insufficient testosterone levels, he is very insecure, stressed by every social contact and is always in a position of submission in the presence of people.

But, despite this, he is incredible and we are happy that the owners realized their mistake and voluntarily handed Odin over to us when we reached an understanding. We transported the wolf to our structural unit «White Rock Bear Shelter» on June 5, 2025, where he has the opportunity to get used to normal wolf food and master his own open enclosure under the sun, with grass, soil, shelter and a small pond. Let this story become a good example when ordinary people illegally acquired a wild animal for an apartment, but realized the viciousness of their act and decided to provide the animal, who suffered from their love, with a chance for a normal life, before it was too late for both sides of this relationship.

We remind you once again that wild animals of any «caliber» have no place in the home. The feeling of being able to create «normal, and somehow it will be» conditions for them in this way is just an illusion.

We are very grateful to: the specialists from the Inna Vasylkovska Veterinary Clinic for veterinary support of the rescue operation; the Wild Animal Rescue Center for providing vehicles, fuel, and a transport cage for the wolf; the Italian animal protection organization LAV and the Ukrainian PlayDuck Charity Foundation for financial support; and our German friends from Tierarztpraxis SaLu and Examion Gmbh for the donated X-ray equipment.
