Balto the polar wolf was born in captivity in 2020. He was purchased by a private owner in the Donetsk region, who later got rid of the unwanted animal, and Balto moved to the Dnipropetrovsk region, where he lived confined in a dark shed. In 2021 he was rescued by the Pegasus Shelter. However, the organisation does not specialise in large predators, so in 2026 they turned to us, and on 12 February 2026 Balto arrived at White Rock. He quickly settled in and became part of our family. Balto loves playing in the snow and racing with other wolves. His story started typically – illegal breeding and trading of exotic animals for private keeping. But now he has a natural wolf life.
